The ��ɫapp alumni family will grow by nearly 5,300 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement. 

��ɫapp President Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as vice president for student affairs, effective May 1, 2020. In addition, Diacon has appointed Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., as the interim vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, effective June 1, 2020.

The ��ɫapp Board of Trustees approved three important budgetary measures to counter expected revenue reductions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic during a special Board meeting held May 6.

��ɫapp is launching a series of videos showcasing the talents of our faculty and staff aimed at providing an uplifting respite from the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Beginning Friday, May, visitors to the  will be able to view a variety of special videos, online exhibits and interactive tours, all designed to honor and remember Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Schroeder, the Kent State students who lost their lives 50 years ago on the Kent State campus.

As the concern of the COVID-19 pandemic heightened throughout the month of March, Kent State made the decision to cancel face-to-face classes and move to completely online classes. But that meant some heavy lifting on the part of faculty, staff and students. Over the course of six days, Kent State's IT staff, Continuing and Distance Education staff, departmental educational technologists and instructional designers moved more than 8,000 traditional courses to digital learning platforms for remote instruction.

��ɫapp was to move all classes online, causing surrounding businesses to do the same, like WKSU. “WKSU began planning for potential disruptions at the beginning of March,” News Director Andrew Meyer said. “Within two weeks, it became clear that WKSU would need to take action on those plans.”

In keeping with the commitment to honor and remember the events of May 4, 1970, ��ɫapp will have an online “virtual” program to mark the 50th Commemoration with a variety of online videos, exhibits and learning resources.
