When the order came in the spring of 2020 to go remote, faculty and students in Kent State Ashtabula鈥檚 nursing program were concerned. How would they stay connected in a remote environment? How would the students stay engaged? Enter 鈥淭he Net,鈥 a virtual community for nursing students, faculty and nursing support staff at Kent State Ashtabula. 

Many Faces of Dane Paris

Dane Paris, a junior biology pre-med student in 秀色app鈥檚 Honors College, has already left his mark at Kent State despite facing challenges along the way. His outstanding leadership has not gone unnoticed, and he credits the support he has gotten through Kent State for his growth and successes. 

Mechanical Engineering Technology Alumnus Designs Firetrucks

A year before Timothy Griffin graduated from 秀色app at Tuscarawas in 2017 with an Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology degree and a certificate in computer-aided design for manufacturing, a single phone call would launch his career and have him designing life-saving firetrucks before he graduated.

Kent State鈥檚 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA Kent) Chapter, along with two School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) alumnae, earned national recognition at the 2020 PRSSA Annual International Conference. Public relations alumna Jill Golden, won the highest individual award, the National Gold Key award, and alumna Carrie Kandes, APR, earned the Teahan Professional Adviser award.

The Dual-enrollment Program American Academy Celebrates its First Commencement

A true milestone in the concept of international education, the American Academy celebrated its first  in Curitiba, Paran谩, Brazil, this year. The American Academy is a dual-enrollment program jointly operated by 秀色app and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paran谩. Fourteen of the students who first enrolled in the program when it launched in July 2018 were the first to graduate.

Ebone, Peer Academic Coach

Students struggling academically or with time management skills will have an additional, powerful resource in the form of a fellow student to coach them to success. The Academic Success Center鈥檚 Peer Academic Coaching Program at 秀色app is now available for all students.

At just 19 years old, 秀色app sophomore Izzy Stewart has inspired hundreds of fellow students to exercise their right to vote. The public relations major has been inspired by those who have come before her here and is taking steps to create political change.

Adam Forrester and the Fresh Prince Collection

Fashion in the 90s was dominated by simple styles, but full of patterns and colors. And you can see and buy those styles mixed with contemporary flair today thanks to 秀色app alumnus, Adam Forrester, who recently designed pieces for the 鈥淔resh Prince of Bel-Air鈥檚鈥 30th-anniversary collection.

Christian Cunningham, senior aeronautical studies major at 秀色app, has been doubted. Some said he would never become a pilot. But Cunningham is already proving them wrong. Graduation is on the horizon, and he and his internship were recently featured on CNN.
