Sculptures of political satire from the Detumescence exhibition by Bedel Tiscareno

The School of Art Collection and Galleries at 秀色app are pleased to announce a new exhibit, Detumescence, Bedel Tiscare帽o. This exhibit will be on display, April 7鈥揗ay 13, 2023, at the KSU Downtown Gallery, 141 East Main Street, Kent Ohio, there will be a reception on Friday, April 7 from 5-7 p.m.

The Biennial Faculty Show runs from Jan. 17 through Feb. 10. 

Sarah Esposito and two of her paintings

School of Art adjunct professor and painting M.F.A. alumni, Sarah Esposito, will be opening her first solo show, 鈥淚nto the Syncline鈥, at Kink Contemporary in Cleveland opening on February 18, 2023. The show will include elements of painting and collage landscapes that mirror the artist鈥檚 relationship with the natural world. 鈥淚nto the Syncline鈥 is inspired by the folds in the earth鈥檚 crust, like those that form mountains and islands. Sarah Esposito has examined these formations recently in Colorado and other regional parks.

The School of Art Collection and Galleries at 秀色app are pleased to announce a new exhibit 鈥淣exo Entre Ra铆ces / Nexus Between Roots鈥 which will be on display January 27 鈥 March 18, 2023, at the KSU Downtown Gallery, located at 141 East Main Street in Kent, Ohio.

The 秀色app Museum exhibition 鈥淭EXTURES: the history and art of Black hair鈥 has been awarded the Arts Alive award for Collaborative Project for 2022. The exhibition was co-curated by Dr. Joseph Underwood, associate professor of art history, and Dr. Tameka Ellington, former associate professor of fashion and interim assistant dean for the College of the Arts.

John Paul Morabit

The School of Art is thrilled to announce the appointment of John Paul Morabito as Assistant Professor of Textiles. Morabito, who previously served as a professor of Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, joins the faculty succeeding the retirement of Janice Lessman-Moss. They will join the Kent State faculty in fall 2022.
