Theatre opens The Bicentennial Project on February 26.

秀色app at Stark will present their second theatrical production of the 2015-16 season. The Bicentennial Project by Arwen Mitchell was created in collaboration with The Canton Repository. The play will be performed on February 26, 27, March 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and on February 28 and March 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Kent State Stark Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. Students from the Kent State East Liverpool physical therapist assistant program hold stuffed bears in tribute to the young patients treated at St. Jude鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Research Hospital.

Students from the Kent State East Liverpool physical therapist assistant program observed National PTA Month by raising funds that were donated to St. Jude鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Research Hospital. The PTA students raised $500 through fundraisers that included a night at Quaker Steak 鈥楴 Lube, a 50/50 raffle and a basket raffle. Mothers, Mentors and Muses is 秀色app Women鈥檚 Center鈥檚 signature event that recognizes 秀色app female-identifying faculty or staff who have made a significant difference in the life of a student or colleague.  More than 300 women across the university have received this honor. This academic year, Kent State Student and slam poet Damien McClendon has been leading performance poetry workshops at the Wick Poetry Center. Participants write, read, watch slam videos, and discuss the craft of performance poetry.  These workshops are free and open to the public鈥攕tudents and members of the community are welcome. Shanice Cheatham worked with Kent State鈥檚 College of Public Health and LaunchNET Kent State to help her company, Endemic Solutions, develop its Endemic Filtration Portable Handwashing System.

In 2009, Shanice Cheatham, who received her bachelor鈥檚 degree from 秀色app in 2013 and is pursuing a graduate degree in environmental health sciences at Kent State, was told that her father had a 10 percent chance of living after being infected with MRSA, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. MRSA is a type of staph bacteria resistant to antibiotics used to treat general staph infections, according to the Mayo Clinic website. Wang received a $10,000 grant for her project Ya-Fen Wang, Ph.D., M.S.N., RN, assistant professor in 秀色app鈥檚 College of Nursing, is working on a one-year project to study if children鈥檚 prolonged exposure to stressful situations such as school, family or environment encourages poor eating behaviors, which can lead to childhood obesity. Wang鈥檚 project, titled 鈥淩esourcefulness, Stress and Overeating in Children,鈥 also looks at whether those behaviors can be exchanged for healthier options through self-coping skills, also known as resourcefulness.
