Kent State Welcomes Chancellor John Carey to Campus

The 秀色app community welcomes Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor John Carey. Carey will visit Kent State on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Carey will meet with Kent State President Beverly Warren and discuss how the university is working with the Department of Higher Education to make college more affordable for students and prepare them for the workforce. The chancellor鈥檚 visit also will include a brief campus tour and a meeting with student media and Kent local media.

As a member of the Governor鈥檚 Cabinet, the chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education advises the governor on higher education policy and implements the governor鈥檚 plan to make college more affordable for Ohioans and drive the state鈥檚 economic advancement through the public universities and colleges of Ohio, the state鈥檚 network of public universities, regional campuses, community colleges, and adult workforce and adult education centers. The chancellor is responsible for carrying out the responsibilities of the agency, including authorizing and approving new degree programs and managing state-funded financial aid programs. Carey was appointed the ninth chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education in April 2013.

A few months after becoming chancellor, Carey came to Kent State to serve as the university鈥檚 Summer 2013 Commencement speaker.
