IN A FLASH SPECIAL: Flying Monkeys

All this week, "In A Flash" will feature images from the 秀色app group's trip to Rwanda.

Members of the Kent State delegation attending , a global peace conference in Kigali, Rwanda, were treated to a soaring show by this mother with her baby from a group of local velvet monkeys. Velvet monkeys are common throughout East Africa and live in rural and urban environments.

The conference is sponsored by Kent State鈥檚 School of Peace and Conflict Studies, Kent State鈥檚 Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, the  and the , a non-profit organization dedicated to ending genocide and other global atrocities.

Bringing together peace and conflict experts and educators from around the world, the conference is another building block in Kent State鈥檚 growing relationship with the University of Rwanda. In May 2022, Kent State鈥檚 Board of Trustees approved Kent State opening a base of operations at the University of Rwanda for creating collaborative educational exchanges and to serve as a base of operations for Kent State鈥檚 recruitment throughout Africa.
