Pratyusha Ghanta’s presentation "Stopping Lung Cancer in its Tracks" earned her third place in Kent State’s fall 2023 Three Minute Thesis competition. 

New Wave ’80s band Devo isn’t just from Ohio. Devo wasn’t just created in Akron. Devo was forged at ��ɫapp under the pressure of the turmoil of the late ’60s and the events surrounding May 4, 1970. Authors David Giffels and Jade Dellinger brought their book “The Beginning Was the End: Devo in Ohio” to Kent State for a book signing and discussion.

In 1991, Carol A. Cartwright, Ph.D., made history when she was named president of ��ɫapp, becoming not only Kent State’s first female president, but also the first woman to serve as president of any Ohio public college or university.  

Professor of psychological sciences Mary Beth Spitznagel has experienced the burden of caregiving for her beloved dog, Allo, who developed bladder cancer. This influenced her research into how a pet with chronic illness can affect caregivers.

This March, ��ɫapp is celebrating the 2023 Women’s History Month. The theme for 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”
