Award-winning Journalist Soledad O鈥橞rien to Speak on November 19

The second event in 秀色app at Stark鈥檚 25th season of the popular Featured Speakers Series will bring acclaimed journalist Soledad O鈥橞rien to campus. Her presentation, Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes and In Our Lives, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Timken Great Hall, located in Kent State Stark鈥檚 Conference Center, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.

Tickets are required for this free Featured Speakers Series lecture. Tickets may be obtained by visiting the Kent State Stark Information Desk in Main Hall, beginning Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 a.m., while supplies last. A limit of two (2) tickets will be distributed per person. Phone or email reservations will not be accepted.

O鈥橞rien, one of today鈥檚 most respected and recognized broadcasting personalities, has eloquently covered the world鈥檚 breaking news at various networks, including NBC News, CNN, HBO and Al Jazeera, over the past 25 years. Deeply passionate about U.S. race relations, her critically acclaimed documentary series, Black in America and Latino in America, are among CNN鈥檚 most successful franchises. O鈥橞rien鈥檚 authentic coverage of Hurricane Katrina, the Haitian earthquake, BP鈥檚 oil spill and other high-profile stories has earned her many awards. Her multiplatform company, Starfish Media Group, exposes challenging issues of race, class, wealth and poverty through personal narratives.
