Now Enrolling!

The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Compliance, offered by the ɫapp College of Public Health, has received accreditation from the prestigious Compliance Certification Board (CCB)® effective August 1, 2024. Students who successfully complete the 100% online certificate, and additionally meet all CCB criteria, can apply to take the CCB’s healthcare examinations.

These exams include:

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)®

  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)®

  • Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC)®

“The ɫapp Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Compliance offers a unique learning opportunity to explore healthcare compliance laws and regulations through the public health lens,” says Tom Brewer, Ph.D., M.Jur., CHC, professor of health policy and management and coordinator of the certificate. “The coursework is specifically designed to follow the CHC detailed content outline, but graduates are eligible to sit for any of CCB’s healthcare certification exams.”

According to Brewer, a CCB certification is becoming a de facto requirement for obtaining high-demand, compliance-related jobs, including compliance officer, patient privacy and protection specialist, compliance auditor, and many more. Students enrolled in the certificate program will also receive a one-year membership in the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA)® and the two-volume Complete Healthcare Compliance Manual at no additional cost.

“Thanks to its flexibility and hands-on learning approach, the Kent State Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Compliance allows students to develop in-demand skills that will prepare them to pursue the CCB certification and some of the fastest-growing jobs in the country,” Brewer explains. “We have also designed the certificate to fit perfectly into our Master of Public Health (MPH)-Health Policy and Management concentration. Students can add the certificate to the MPH without taking additional hours beyond the traditional MPH program,” Brewer adds.

The curriculum and content have been developed by top ɫapp faculty and industry experts, who all hold the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) designation. Online courses comprising the Graduate Certificate have been created using Quality Matters® standards to offer students meticulously planned, authentic learning experiences.
