STRS Member Contribution Rate Increase on July 1

Pension reform legislation passed in 2012 included increasing the member contribution rate to 14 percent. This increase has been phased in 1 percent per year. The final scheduled increase took effect on July 1, 2016, when the rate increases to 14 percent from 13 percent.

For State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio’s (STRS Ohio) Combined (CO) Plan participants, effective July 1, 2016, the member contribution rate of 14 percent will have 12 percent allocated to the member’s Defined Contribution (DC) account and 2 percent allocated to the Defined Benefit (DB) portion of the CO Plan.

Religious and Spiritual Accommodations Allow Students Time to Celebrate Other Religious Holidays

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, ��ɫapp created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.

Call for Native American Heritage Month events

At Kent State, we want to honor the celebration of our Native American and Indigenous culture by developing a calendar encompassing all the university events that are relevant to Native American Heritage Month. The Native American Heritage Month Planning Committee is welcoming university divisions, departments and student organizations to begin submitting their programming, activities and events to the University Events Calendar to be featured on the Native American Heritage Month Website.
